Use Command

The Use command will transfer control of the current template to a new template; when the new template is done, it will return to the current template:

Use #1,<#2>,<#3>,...

where

• #1 is name of another tag editing template. The name can be any word that corresponds to a template named "#1 Editing" (and #1 need not be an actual GEDCOM tag word).
• The optional arguments #2, #3, ... are parameters that are passed to the alternate template. They can accessed in the new template with variables #use (for #2), #use1 (for #3), #use2 (for #4), etc.. The variable #usennum will be loaded with the total number of optional parameters that were passed to the new template.

Notes

1. When control returns to the calling template, all data will have been processed (or hidden). Thus the calling template will not be able to follow the use call with Show or ShowAll commands to access data in the file.
