Import Command

The Import command is used to read text from a file.

Import "#var",<#2>

where

• "#var" is quoted variable name. The contents of the file are put into that variable.
• #2 is full or relative path to the file being read. A full path always starts in "/". When using a relative path (typically just the file name), the file must be in the extension with the template (for browser styles) or with the script (for internal scripts).

Notes

1. The Import command for GEDitCOM II requires version 3.1.
2. This command has many uses for internal scripts. It has almost no uses when writing browser styles.
3. The file to import should include its extension. All templates and subroutines in browser styles have extension ".txt" even though not shown in the extension's index.
